To celebrate the print publication of The Solstice Blade, we hid three new copies of the book in and around the market town Liskeard in Cornwall: the setting of the story. We then announced that we would post clues to the locations on Facebook on 21st December 2016, the day of the winter solstice.
The original announcement can be read on our Facebook page here.
At 10:44, the moment of the solstice, a scheduled Facebook post revealed the first three clues to the locations of the hidden books. The scheduled post can be read here.
The three clues were in increasing order of difficulty, but all required that the free preview chapter of the book available on Amazon had been read through.
The first clue referenced a location in “Rain”, the second chapter of the book and was found on the evening of the 21st of December in Liskeard town centre.
The second clue involved deciphering a series of numbers that related to letters in the Amazon preview chapter, and which spelled out the name of a road that led out of the town. When used in conjunction with the remainder of the clue the exact location was revealed. The second book was found on 22nd December 2016.
The third clue indicated a location from the Prologue of The Solstice Blade, but gave very little other information, making this, we believed, the most difficult clue. Nevertheless, by the 3rd of January 2017, all three of the hidden books had been found.
We thoroughly enjoyed setting up The Solstice Blade
Treasure Hunt, and hope that those of you who took part had as much fun as we did.
